Please join us for this year’s exciting Healthy Schools Summit! Created for participates in Virginia, Maryland and Washington, D.C., this summit will bring together green building design, school management, nursing, education and advocacy individuals.

Keynote Speakers Barbara Sattler and Lois Gibbs, and expert panelists on children’s health, green cleaning in schools, indoor air quality and more, will share problems and solutions to children’s health issues in the school environment. Our participants will then have an opportunity to gather together and share their experiences, upcoming opportunities and resources.

The Healthy School Summit is organized by the Center for Health, Environment and Justice in partnership with the Montgomery County Public Schools Green Building Program and the Metropolitan Council of Governments Department of Environmental Programs


Maryland

CHEJ staff went to Maryland to support bill to ban toxic chemicals in baby toys. Mike Schade, CHEJ's PVC campaign coordinator, along with representatives from several other environmental groups, testified in support of a Maryland bill that would ban phthalates and bisphenol A from children's toys, baby products, and cosmetics in the state. A new report summarizing the health and environmental hazards of these toxic chemicals was released at the hearing in Annapolis.
