New York judge upholds fracking ban in towns (Reuters) – In a blow to the oil and gas industry, a judge has ruled small towns in New York have the authority to ban drilling — including the controversial method known as fracking — within their borders.

The Pennsylvania Legislature ended 2011 by attempting to pass bills (SB 1100 & HB 1950) that would allow the state to take away a municipality’s power through zoning to determine what is best for its community regarding natural gas operations.     January 11 – Hundreds of people showed up at the state capital to speak out against fracking. Earthquakes, poisoned drinking water and lands were mentioned as real concerns to citizens of Ohio.


    Jan. 10,  1-3 PM – Youngstown Residents, Buckeye Forest Council, Ohioans for Health, Environment, and Justice & others mach on the State House demanding a moratorium now, before more communities are rocked with earthquakes and our water is poisoned from fracking!

    Speakers will include Rep. Bob Hagan and representatives from communities turned into wastelands.  We will be providing a bus for transportation for Youngstown area activists. Please Meet at the the Youngstown First Unitarian Universalist Church, 1105 Elm Street Youngstown, OH at 8:30 Am, the bus will leave for Columbus at 9:00 am.
