Statewide Pilot Programs
In addition to responding to groups that request our assistance, CHEJ has begun to actively focus its grassroots efforts on specific states that show strong potential for building a broad base of environmental health activists. By positioning ourselves in favorable political and social climates, we hope to create and take advantage of opportunities to organize and build the U.S. environmental health movement.
We have chosen to start in Florida, Ohio and Maryland, where we will focus our greatest attention and resources. In these states, we have the greatest chance to build leadership and establish collaborative, statewide efforts around environmental health issues and policies. We will also be working in New York, North Carolina and New Jersey, providing valuable assistance to organizations that are already working successfully within these states. By providing additional resources and support, CHEJ will help bring these states to the peak of their potential for promoting environmental health in this country.
